Araceli "Celi" Barbosa Designer/Owner
My work with flowers first began when I was 16 years old. My mother frequented a local flower shop where I picked up a job cleaning flowers in preparation for Valentine's Day. What was suposed to be a couple of days turned into 12 years! Sarah (the owner of that shop and former instructor in Taiwan) shared with me her knowledge, skills, love for flowers and her kind heart. From her I learned a little bit of everything and now 19 years later... I can't imagine doing anything else.
Victoria's Garden was established in 2008. It was truly unplanned. I was out to lunch with Dad one day and walked by an empty building with a "For Lease" sign. I happened to glance inside and saw a flower cooler and realized it was a former flower shop. Dad convinced me to inquire. I took a leap of faith and 2 weeks later I was in! The minute I stepped into the shop I pictured my daughter Victoria (2 years old at the time) running around all over the place. So Victoria's Garden it became! I ran Victoria's Garden as a full service flower shop for 3 years until the building was acquired by a company for redevelopment. At this time I decided to redirect the business and cater to weddings and other special events. I am now proud to be home-based!!
I truly love my business! I love it for helping me take care of my family, for allowing me something so fulfilling and for letting me show up to work in my pajamas if I wish (one of the perks of working from home)! Victoria's Garden is about so many people. It's about my parents who help with set-ups and baby sitting, my sister who accompanies me to the flower market at 3am, my husband who supports me 100% and "rarely" complains about the piles of leaves and stems he cleans up and of course my two girls who inspires me to do it all! It's about all those people who have trusted me on their special day and whose lingering kind words have made my business blossom. That's what Victoria's Garden is all about.
